The Support Desks are perhaps the most annoying company departments in the world. They can be hard to find, hard to reach and hard to work with. They can work unbearably slowly and rather often they are drastically incompetent. That is why collecting all support services in one place, somewhere easily reachable, sounds like a great idea: whenever you need help, you're not risking a lot of your time and nerves.
GeekBuddy serves exactly this very purpose. This small program by Comodo is actually more of a desktop-based service as all it does is to connect you with a Comodo support specialist (nicknamed 'Buddy') who you can explain your issue to. The Buddy will then connect to your computer remotely and try to fix the issue as you watch him or her working.
The advantages of GeekBuddy are obvious: you do not have to solve your software issues anymore, you can just get somebody do it for you. As for the disadvantages, I can think of two. The first one is of financial nature: GeekBuddy comes at $49.95 per year, which is quite a price. The second is directly connected with keeping your privacy intact. It is always a bit scary when you grant access to your computer to a complete stranger. Apart from this, it is a bit unclear to me how a GeekBuddy is supposed to remotely solve issues requiring a Windows restart.
To recap it all, if you don't get scared off by the yearly $49.95 fee and are no privacy freak, GeekBuddy could be a great support desk solution for you.
